Text description provided by the architects. The extension of the municipal technical center of Saint-Jean-de-Vedas near Montpellier marks the southern entrance of a new urban development being created along the Librilla avenue, punctuating the angle plot as an urban signal. Following the transfer of the technical and the urban planning services, the city engineersandtechnicalagentsweretemporarilyhoused inmodular buildingspending deliveryof the new building.
In fact, the extremely short implementation time recorded in the program, the wooden prefabrication structure was privileged and presented to the client, as a means of optimizing the construction period (7 months). Other factors contributed in this choice: conducting a clean site on a busy site, marking a rupture with the concrete architecture of the existing building (workshops), promoting clearer public spaces, consolidate the functions of the new ensemble.
Consisting of a dyed wooden siding (spruce) and a stone wall, the ground floor is open to the public while the two floors offer work space and office space for the technical agents. All the studies, the construction and delivery were completed in one year.
